Finland, Minnesota

Finland is an unincorporated community in Lake County, Minnesota, United States.

The community is located north of Silver Bay on Minnesota Highway 1.

The community of Finland is located 6 miles inland from Lake Superior's North Shore and is a small, unincorporated town settled mainly by Finnish immigrants in 1895.

As of 2010 the population of Finland is 628.

Finland is a small community. It has a gas station, a motel, a cooperative general store, a community center (under construction), two Lutheran churches, four bars, a post office, the Organic Consumer's Association and Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center.

Back in the late 1890s to the early 1950s, it was a popular destination for Finnish immigrants.

The Population density is 3.0 (per square mile).

Today still a majority of the people here are Finnish Americans.

The community of Finland's governing body is Crystal Bay Township.

The community of Finland is located within the Finland State Forest in Lake County.
